I'm looking for information about Datastream 7i Implementation, because We are going to implement in my companye as part a corporate decision, If someone has information about bugs, reporting problems, functionality and support, We are going to run the application on SQL Database, and inferfase inventory and purchasing information to our JDE ERP please share it with me if you have something, The implementation is gointo be expensive and many people has many expectations about it

My plant will be going live in April. We are still working out our issues. Creating and converting existing databases is a major priority for us. I have been through several Implementations on the receiving end. It is not always a pretty sight. It’s best to understand the system and how it relates to your plant in advance, which allows you to plan ahead. Drop me a line and maybe we can compare notes.

Is it a new installation or an upgrade from another CMMS?

If it is your first CMMS, you are "lucky"

In Datastream start thinking of classes & subclasses of equipment. It is easy to build a structure, once you have defined your classes.

Fortunately we also use the inventory and purchasing modules of Datastream.
The only interface is to the acounting software (Oracle Financials)

What type of plant are you running?

We're going to start from zero, because We had a Lotus Notes Database for perfmorming Miantenance Work Order but it is a mess!!!, so We are codifiying our main equipment and their components at system level. I mean
Major Equipment-----> systems and components in 3 levels. We are using our experience on JDE's maintenance module but I have my concenrs because on 7i It does not to be simple like JDE. We are trying to get information about this topic with Dastatream Mexico's consultants but they say that all will be seen during the implementation. If you have some advices about codifiying equipmente I would appreciate them, And if you need moro information about mi implementation please feel free in telling me.

In fact We are using in our distrubution fleet the JDE maintenance modules and it´s ok but it has limitations, for me the best is the integration, because you do not have interfaces!!!!.

But coming to Datastream I saw that you are using the interface only on Oracle GL, could you tell me please How easy it has been to Financial people, I mean how easy has it been to Controllers to manage the information outside from the ERP?.

About classe and subclasse We had tought in this way:
for example
Classes-------->Subclases
Compresors---> Reciprocant,Blowers,Centrifugal
Pumps--------> Centrifugal, positive displacement

Is our way of defining ok? or Are We Wrong?
