I am very new to Datastream 7i, we are in the process of implementing the system in our company. I am in the testing database and made some users and user groups that i would like to delete but it give me an error.

"This record cannot be deleted because it is associated with another record in the system."

Hello mech29,

this error message tells you that you did some transaktions where this user is now part of.
The user can't be deleted without deleting all records where he is part of.
For that issue you can "disable" a user account.

Thank you for your reply, so if I disable user will I be able to delete him? If no, then how could I delete all the records created in the user account?

Hello mech29,

I don't think so.
You can disable the user account, so that user can't log in any more.
But even after disabling the account, there are still some records attached with that account. And by deleting the user you would create incinsistent data in the DB.
I'm not sure if DSTM 7i has something like an archiving tool which allows it to delete data.

Go to WORK EMPLOYEES and delete the USERID from the EMPLOYEE record. You can then delete the USER record as long as you didn't process andy requisitions or workorders etc to this userid.
