Here is a question I am asked often-

What is the difference between the short and long forms on the work order?

The short form does not print comments on the work order, the long form does.
If you are using the work request module or WebLink, you may want to print work orders with the long form, since they may have comments that were entered via the work request table or WebLink.

Short form does not give you barcodes to each equipment. Where the long syle gives you barcodes for each equipment listed. Very helpfull when you are tracking the parts used to each equipment. When you scan out parts using the scan gun it asks for the Work Order then Equipment barcode. If you print short style you don't get the Equipment barcodes. While the short will save you some paper if you don't use a scan gun to check out parts to them.

As you say, the long form has a lot of data that is not required, but shows work order comments.

Crystal Reports 5.0 can be used to edit the Work orders. 5.0 is an obsolete version of Crystal Reports, off the market since the mid '90s.

Many clients have asked me to edit their long form work order using my copy of Crystal 5.0, making it shorter than the "short form" work order, improving readabliity and reducing confusion.
If you are interested I can send samples.
