Does anyone know if there is a check box that can be added in a work order(MP2) that has an attachment on it to give you the option to print or not print the attachment. ie... everytime we print this work order with the attachmnet it prints out the 25 page attachment?
Thank you in advance

Hello T.Jones,
I am a maintenance and reliability consultant, working with Datastream products for over eight years.

If you have a document attached to a work order, it will print whenever that work order is printed out. There is no functionality in the work order table where you can decide to print the attachment or simply view it.

My suggestion would be to attach your 25 page file to the equipment record, not the work order. Go to Equipment/Activities/Attachments and you will see an attachments field followed by a field entitled "Attach to work order." You can select Y to attach the file to a work order and N if you don't want to attach the file.

I hope this answers your question. If you would like to discuss this further, you can send me a note at jennifer_ohl@yahoo.com. I'm happy to help you.

T. Jones,

I am using MP2 Access 5.0. In this version you have a choice to attach the 'attachment' to the WO. Go to TASK>SCHERDULE>ATTACHMENTS then chose NO in Attach to WO'.
Hope this helps. Any commments Jenni?

I think we need to clarify what we are talking about- T. Jones asked about attachments to a work order, not attachments in the Task module for a PM. If T. really meant attachments to a PM in the Task module, then here is my reply:

I have found that when documents are attached to a PM work order, the idea is that they will print every time the work order prints. In this case, T.Jones has indicated that he does not want to print the attachment every time the work order is generated.

T. Jones could attach the document in the Task Module as, but this would require the person generating work orders to go there and turn the attachment on or off every time before generating. There is always the possibility of forgetting to do this.

Attaching the document to the Equipment table permits you to print it when you need it, and attach it to all work orders if you want to do this.

This is just my suggestion- the file can be attached to the Task itself or the piece of equipment.
