Can DataStream be used as a data entry template / logbook for individual equipment availability and utilization tracking? I am wondering if there are ways to replace current excel spreadsheet logging systems with the tools that work directly with the CMMS system. However, I haven’t had a chance to see what DataStream will do for me once implemented, which will be in the near future.

Ther option is available in Calculating usage Correlations (WXRCOR) but we find it more convenient to fill in the meter readings in DataStream, export the data, with a mouseclick to excel and make our custom reports in excell.

svanels,
I was wondering if DataStream can be used a daily log book to log information such as hour-meter readings from rolling stock equipment (Trucks, Dozers, Fork trucks). This information would then be queried for use in Excel spread sheets for calculations of usage and availability. |

Yes it is available, years ago when I was with rolling equipment maintenance we did it with radio communication using a "quatro pro" nowadays excel.
Now I am at stationary site and every two days or week (depending on the equipment) we take readings. The meter is defined on the asset and we fill in the readings. You could use the build in calculations, but it lacks the flexibility to modify targets on a as need basis found in excel. At the end of the month when we generate our availability report, we just query the results in Datastream, and export it. Since we look at more parameters then just usage and availability, nothing beats the justifications/remarks you can enter in a spreadsheet. Steven van Els, CMRP |

Thank you for the information. I will possibly posting some more on the topic when I start dealing with DataStream.
