Hello Everyone:

Situation - 7i has been selected w/o even talking to Datastream as to functionality; this was a political move on someone's part. Request for Proposal open to 'whoever' to be the implementation vendor for 7i.

For myself, was hired to bring on a new CMMS and have implemented FAMIS & TMA in the past however no ideas at all about 7i & this agency wants the responsibility on a third party to implement. A CMMS is a CMMS, each different but alike. Still can not talk to Datastream till implementation vendor selected. Have questions & am hoping you can supply some real life answers.

1. Can 7i handle multiple account codes for WO's, parts buying, purchase orders& with varying percentages?
2. Can 7i handle multiple crafts being assigned on the same WO?
3. Does 7i really require individual licensing instead of concurrent licenses?
4. How cumbersome is the PM scheduling?
5. Does the 'Scheduler' for daily assignments work well or not at all?
6. Does 7i allow you to place identifiers in the work order number sequence? Like PM12345, for preventive maintenance?
7. Overall how anual is Datastream compared to other systems?

Thanks You for your answers.

We are on what is called now Datastream since 1994

Your question:

1)Can 7i handle multiple account codes for WO ? Confused
Charge one workorder to multiple accounts?? Strange requirement
2) Yes
3) I know it is pricy Big Grin our system runs on Oracle

Overall you can build in a lot of flexibility and it is definitely not the kind of CMMS for a small business

Steven,

Thanks for the reply. Have soooo many questions about 7i from a practical stand point; however will keep it brief.

1.Has Datastream meet your expectation since 1994?
2. Were you able to use the program out-of-the box or did you have to do a lot of customization before using the system?
3. Who implemeted your software, you, Datstream or a 3rd party?
4. Are you hosting the data in-house or using a "Hosted" site for your data and maintenance?

Again, have a huge landury list of questions since we aren't allowed to speak to Datastream until Implementation vendor is selected. These are just a few of the type of questions that I have, the majority are functionality questions & issues. Thank you for your response and for providing answer to my new questions.

TY - Mike

1) Datasteam (the software) has met my expectations, the people working with it is another story Big Grin
2) We have done some customization, the original product (rapier) was bought somewhere in 2000 by Datastream who first published it as MP5 and Later DataStream.
3) We have implemented it together with the vendor (at that time sql-systems). One word of caution, D7i is not something like installing M$ Word, Access or Autocad. At least you need a Database Administrator. Now you have the luxioury of having a lot of independent consultants. We had a thourough planned re-organization of our company, adapt our processes etc...
4) We are hosting in-house, always have been, at the time of implementation we did not have the internet Big Grin
