Hallo all out there

I am looking for insulation testers that can be installed in a circuit for HV motors(6,6 kV)when the motor is stopped, the unit then tests the winding insulation automatically. (if possible up to 5000V dc to be applied.)or any products similar to this. The need here is only to get an indication of the insulation system displayed on a panel which could be monitored. We are using the PDMA equipment for manual testing.
Do anyone know of such products ?

Regards

Both of above apply 500vdc. I think they were developed for military equipment rated below 1000 vac.

As far as I know there is nothing available for unattended motor monitoring that puts out more than 500vdc test voltage.

Take a look at http://www.msegroup.net/index.html. They do have some monitors that will test upto 13.8 kV when the motor is switched off to check its condition.

I have not used these myself so cannot comment on their utility.

Best regards,

Aditya

That last one by "msegroup" claims to test machines rated up to 13.8kv, but the test voltage is 24vdc or 400 vdc per FAQ # 6 and 7.

http://www.msegroup.net/faq.htm

Note ieee 43 specifies a test voltage of 5000 vdc for insulation resistance test of 13.8kv machine. Presumably testing at lower voltages such as 400vdc will catch gross problems but sacrifice some sensitivity

I represent a company that manufactures an automatic insulation tester called Megalert. Look at it on the web at megalert.com. We are different than other testers because we test at rated voltage. Also, we are a tester that is of a non-destructive nature. We have been in business for over 20 years and this technology has been a big hit in applications that are in very harsh environments.
