ALL ATP USERS PLEASE EXPLORE YOUR EXP HERE AS I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW LONG ATP IS RELIABLE . I HAVE READ TOO MANY CONFLICTS SO PLEASE SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE REGARDING ATP.
I AM PERSONALLY USING THE ATP IV EMCAT BUT ITS NOT GIVING SATISFACTORY RESULTS.

THANKS

Thermographer,

The ATPro measurement technology is reliable and sensitive. You need to understand the technology and how to evaluate the measurements though. In the same way that you have to learn about vibration analysis to interpret results, you need a certain level of knowledge to get the most from the ATPro.

The AT measurement technology is different from that used by PdMA and others for off line measurement. It can give you insight that the others do not. It is a great complement to vibration, IR, and other technologies. It is an outstanding troubleshooting tool

If you decide to purchase the equipemnt, sign up for a formal training class - it will help you get the most benefit from your investment.

Thought everyone might like to know that BobD is a rep for Alltest since he didn't mention that when he was building up his equipment.

MR IANSKI
IT IS A REALLY VERY HELPFUL TOOL MAINLY WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO CHECK RESISTANCE OF A LARGE INDUCTION MOTOR WHICH GENERALLY IN .0??? FORMAT. AND YEP I HAVE SOME DOUBT WITH TESTING METHOD THAT I HAVE MAILED TO mR BOB.

BUT IT CAN PREDICTTTTTTTTTT . THATS IT

THANKS

Just this evening I finished my first report using the All-Test IV Pro with Trend 2005 software. I have not yet sprung for the extra Emcat software but may after this experience. I previously used the MCE for 16 years and now am starting my own business on the cheap for the time being. Like the MCE, the ATPro seems to raise some false alarms but in all fairness, I did not heed the recommendation to take PF Caps out of some circuits. It also seems to be more sensitive to induced voltage (from nearby running equipment)in the Resistance measurement.
So after testing my first 23 three phase motors, I will be modifying my technique to do more tests from the disconnect and perhaps investing in a permanently mounted switch to isolate PF caps on some of the more critical machines.

Kurt, You must take PF correction caps out of the circuit - the ATP readings are meaningless if they are in the circuit - you may have already figured this out. Induced voltages are also a problem, particularly on machines with very low resistance and impedance. This problem is not exclusive to the AT Pro, but to any low level measurement made on such motors. Testing closer to the motor is the solution.

Good Luck!

Can any one confirm that ALL TEST PRO IV and ATP 31 will give same results if tested the same motor in same condition?
in ATP IV there is not possibility of adjusting the Testing Frequency and some time its giving almost double the impedence in one phase comparing remaining two phases. which misguide us relating the motor health. What is the solution for this. this is happened even when we tested motor at motor end directly at motor terminals. Cable was in connected condition and there is no PF correction there end.

hope Mr Bob will explain this.

thanks & Regards

HELLO ALL
AFTER LONG TIME WAITING FOR REPLY BY MR BOB, I ASSUME THAT MY QUERIES ARE RIGHT AND THERE IS NO SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM OF ATP.
SHOULD I COMPROMIZE WITH TESTING RESULTS?

QUE CONTINUE...

You might consider reading my experience of a demo of those two testers. It is the separate post regarding "Disappointing Demo from Low-Voltage Tester".

I did observe that the ATP IV2000 and the ATP 31 do appear to give different values for the same motor being tested. The salesman said this was due to the instruments operating at different default frequencies.

I would say that both testers produced the SAME ratio of readings when comparing the three phases. By that I mean they both would read for instance PH2 as the highest , followed by PH1 and then PH3 being the lowest reading.

More importantly both testers failed to identify a damaged motor winding as bad. Both testers showed a contaminated winding as perfectly balanced with no indication of dirt in the windings.

Good Luck !!

Can anyone tell that these low voltage tester can be used for MEDIUM VOLTAGE MOTOR WINDINGS. NORMALLY WE ARE DOING IR TEST WITH 5KV OR ABOVE FOR MV MOTORS.
ONCE I CHECKED THE 6KV MOTOR WINDING WITH 1000 VDC OF ATP 4, AND IT IS SHOWING ME A WORST READING LIKE 21MOhm, 22 MOhm AND 23 MOhm FOR PH1-EARTH , PH2-EARTH AND PH3 -EARTH RESPECTIVELY.
WHAT WILL BE WORST RESULTS OF ATP OTHER THAN THIS? THE SAME MOTOR WHEN TESTED WITH 5KV MEGGAR , SHOWING 14 GOhm RESULTS OF ALL WINDING TO EARCH.
I REQUEST ATP USERS TO SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCE RELATED WINDING IR TEST.
THANKS & REGARDS

Now i believe no or very few persons are using ATP products as no one here is for reply OR no one may facing such problem as they may never tried these instruments.
Still i am interesting to hear reply by Mr Bob.
this is not a threat and i don have any personal war with ATP companies product but if u r very sure about your products you must satisfy your customers with prompt reply.
Q Cont.

Thanks & Regards
