This query deals with rewinding. We will be installing a new varnish dip tank soon. I have ordered Esterlite 605 (Solventless varnish) for my dipping processes. As this is a solventless product the varnish should not require thinning. An i correct in that assumption? I am wondering about tank cleaning procedures if the varnish should need changing. Appreciate any corporate knowledge from the group. Thanks and have a great Navy/Marine Corps day!

I am not sure if you've found your answers yet.
Esterlite 605 is a poyester base resin, right? Our shop uses Dolph's CC1105 polyester resin, an equivalent to Epoxylite's 605. Over the last 4 months we have added inhibitor and a thinner to get it within specs. Dolph tests the resin for free. Of course they always seem to recommend something for it. Our system is well over 15 yrs old, and it has been only recently we have tried to get it within manufacturer's specs. We have had no issues in the past. As a matter of fact, we started with esterlite 605, but found it to be more expensive. If it is a new tank/resin, you should be OK for a while. But I would considered getting it tested at least every 6 months. |
