Hi, everyone?
I would like to know if anyone has a reliability test idea for aluminium wired AC Electric motors to compare with copper wired motors. The main purpose of developing aluminium wired motors is cost saving of appliances which adopt ac motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Felix Felix |

Felix:
All of the tests are the same for copper or aluminum wire. The only difference is the multiplier (constant) for aluminum and copper when normalizing temperature for resistance readings. I am assuming, with appliances, that these are small shaded pole, run capacitor or universal motors? Which standards are you interested in complying to? IEEE, NEMA and/or IEC? Thanks for your advice. We are trying to IEC 60335-1 standard, and are preparing FMEA of the Motor. Felix Felix |
