I've got a ~3HP permanent-magnet DC motor that runs a machine that has a fairly high pulsing torque requirement, and the body of the motor has started to separate from the stamped-metal base. I'd like to weld the base back on, but I thought I'd ask if anyone here thinks that would wreck the motor (from the extremely high heat, localized though it would be).
Any thoughts?
