Does anyone have information or experience with 5000+ HP AC variable speed drives? Just investigating if it's possible to get rid of that old Boiler Feed Pump fluid coupling (and 40+ year old motor) and upgrade it to a VFD. 4160 volt 5000HP.

Thx
Gary

Yes.

However, you will want to look closely at the actual efficiency and reliability of the fluid coupling.

In the meantime, more detail on the motor nameplate would be required as well as speed range of the pump, etc. etc. (medium voltage drives do require some good level of engineering often provided by the manufacturer).
