We are currently running MP2 and so far, it has been adequate for our maintenance mgt and reliability efforts. As an example of our utilization, one of my next projects is to have condition monitoring data electronically sent to the MP2 database to enable "statistical predictive mnx" without having to input hour meter readings and other readings.
However, our MP2 is not currently tied into our ERP (Movex), and the company is looking at replacing Movex with SAP. If this happens, it would seem logical to adopt SAP-PM so that there is seemless accounting for mnx and parts, etc. Will SAP-PM perform every function that MP2 performs? |

I know a large home products company that is in the process of switching from MP2 to SAP PM.
To say that this company had maxed out MP2 was an understatement as they accomplished as much if not more than MP2 was ever designed to do. The issue was that MP2 stood alone and was not integrated into the accounting or HR system. It will be very interesting to see how they change their maintenance process to "fit" SAP and if they can accomplish the same level of maintenance process automation that they did with MP2. I think the price difference between the 2 products is in the 7 digit range. BTW: It is not just maintenance driving the change to SAP - in fact this company aims to reduce 400 stand alone applications being run worldwide down to one. From an IT perspective -that is pretty significant. Terry O |

Wish I could talk to their maintenance manager...
That is the same deal as our company. We have 28 plants worldwide, and they are trying to standardize the ERP to SAP. |

Send me an email tohanlon@reliabilityweb.com if you want me to introduce you to the person heading the project - he is at the corporate level though not plant level. I am sure he would be happy to speak with you. Terry O |

Actually, we just heard back today that it will be 3 years or more before we implement SAP in North America... And I'm sure 3 years means never. Thanks for the help though.
