Information can be used to make knowledge - knowledge is power (meaning that with knowledge - you can be effective doing the right things).

Do the right things is usually less expensive than doing the wrong things.

Manage maintenance as a business process.

You need some sort of software tool to manage to work process and inventory.

Josh,
I have to agree with Terry. If you don't track your activities and related costs how would you know what's costing you what? More importantly how would you know where to allocate your financial resources so they have the greatest impact?

I think that the audience is already convinced that proper usage of CMMS will reduce maintenance and operating cost.
We are browsing the forums to look if there is something that tells us how we can apply the underlying technology to make our day-to-day life easier at the plant, learning from the experiences of others.

"Do you believe that proper usage of CMMS can reduce maintenance cost?"

With the word "proper" in your question this is indisputable. CMMS will reduce your costs.

If you are really looking at purchasing any software i have been using a CMMS package for quite sometime which is very customizable. Go to this link and see if this would be a perfect fit. http://www.tempowebworks.com
