For review of failure data I need to download the notification longtext to an external program i.e. Excel / Access.

How can this be done?

Rogier

In our Maximo / Brio combination I query the LDTEXT field associated with the Failure Notes. I have to make the association by joining the database tables FAILURENOTES to LDTEXT in Brio (the tables eventually join back to the work order table). I usually leave the short text and long text in separate columns for export to Excel although you could concatenate them. It's just easier to read and you know what cell the data came from doing it that way. Most of the time the short text says “refer to long text” anyway and that doesn’t read properly if they are concatenated.

I forget what I just said, I wasn't listening.

Hi Wally,

Thanks for yor reply.
This is what I am looking for in SAP but I can't find it. The database setup is different.

I hope some SAP goeroes know the solution.

Hello Josh,

Sounds easy but can you be more specific.
This field is what I am looking for but I can't find it. Do you retrieve it with a listview or direct table download? Can you specify the transaction or the table and field?

Sorry, I'm not on my SAP. Perhaps you can raise a query to your SAP support to get the field no..

Rogier,
The only way i could do this in SAP was to have an ABAP procedure written, thus it was a customised report to extract the long text from notifications.
