Normally it's easy to schedule time-based planned preventive maintenance (PPM). However, from what I know not many really use SAP PM for predictive maintenance using measurement points such as to record operating hours. Maybe I'm wrong, anybody have any experience to share? TQ

Sorry Josh but i have been out for some time.
I will collect the information at work and I will forward it to you. Basically we define the counter for a specific location, we link de counter to the maintenance plan. After inputing on SAP the running hours the system will generate the maintenance orders.

Hello Josh,

We have used multiple counters to create maintenance plans for Aircrafts. It has three counters 1. Number Landing of Landing cycle 2. Flight hours and 3. Days of operation.

The Plans are such that when any (or all) of the counters cross the preset values (along with its offset value) sytem will schedule a call object.
The projection is done based on the annual estimates entered at counter level. Based on actual counter values when next time plans are scheduled the date of call gets adjusted if they are not fixed.

Hope this explains.

Hello Josh,

Hmmm.. nothig very difficult and not very simple also. For aircraft industry this is a mandatory need.... Reliability evaluation also has to be based on these counters.. e.g. Failure after so many landing cycle and not just the time...

We have all the counters of equipment installed on aircraft linked to corresponding counters of Aircraft. When the entry for flight hours is made for Aircarft, all other equipments installed on the aircraft automaticaly gets same differantial added to their individual counters.

Counters for aircraft are updated based on the pilot log books. These log entries are collected and entered by Qulity team.

In DIMP release of SAP they also have new feture called Log book that allow linking of each flight of an aircraft with counter reading and any any snag observed by pilot of flight crew.

Hope this helps....

We have not used this feature extensively. To set up all the measurement points for all eqpt will take time & effort for existing manpower. Who did the set up in your case? I guess your system have properly set up at the beginning.

Hi Josh,

You are right. Data migeration was a problem. Though we had most of the utilization data for all the Assets in the Legacy system. This being a regulatory requirements.

For data migeration Sequence in whch the data should be uploaded is a trickey issue. If you think there are advantages in using counter rathar than Fixed time that multicounter is the way.
