Have you used standard analyses in SAP PMIS extensively to automatically get your basic maintenance KPIs?

Have you configured any customised/user-defined analyses?

Appreciate sharing of experience in advance. TQ

SAP PMIS stands for Plant Maintenance Information System. How do you generate KPIs in SAP PM? In addition to standard analyses, what user-defined analyses do you use? TQ

Hello Josh,

Yes we used 46C version of R/3 and had done good enhancements with PMIS to get reliability related reporting at Part number, Equipment level, Aircraft/Engine - level and system level.

It was bit of hard work but is quite sleek. Challange for us was to get historical data in PMIS to get proper reports..

As I understand there has been a huge improvements in Analytics for PM using data warehouse (BW) and there are quite a few reports that comes as standard along with Analytics.

If you are planning PMIS, have a look at standandard Querries in BW.

I agree the data must be proper as the first criterion for meaningful analysis.

I have been involved with BW a bit. However, after all said & done, my view is that the PMIS should be fully utilised first rather than going to BW straight away because the BW also depends on data quality & proper set up so understanding what KPIs to be tracked in BW upfront is very important. And to know what KPIs to track requires deep undertanding of the subject matter first. Therefore, I think any KPIs that cannot be obtained from PMIS standard & user-defined analyses should be then obtained from SAP BW.

I guess BW is suitable for something like balanced scorecards for the whole organization because I think it can analyse data from Production, accounting & HR and externally inputed data eg Health, Safety & Environment.

Can anyone in the group share an overview of the database structure of SAP PM? We are doing pure asset data collection in preparation for the implementation of SAP PM. It will be helpful if some can share important and specific tables and field for initial dataloading.

Thanks and Happy Holidays to all.

Hello Hemmant. Where are you now?
My problem with PMIS, is that not all reports have enough front end filters like Maintenance Plant. It just dumps all the data in your whole client. I've used the Functional Location multiple list edit and entered the plant code for which I am inquiring and copy all to have every functional location produce a report for my specific plant, but is there a better way?

Use one of the analysis which allow your search criteria then when you have executed the program you can change the results by using the Other Info Structure push button (MCI3) is the location analysis
