Hi,

I'm working on a project right now that would like to activate the warranty check with their equipment. Whenever you create a work order for a particular equipment, the system will generate a message or check whether the equipment is still on warranty. I have heard about this from other people before but i'm not exactly sure how to go about it. Is this possible with the SAP Plant Maintenance? I'm currently using MySAP ERP 2004

Thank you

Can you not explore this warranty issue in the development (D01) & testing (T01) regions? Good luck!

I did not implemented but, yes SAP R/3 4.6 supports the warranty check and will display a warning message when an order will be created from an approved Maintenance Notification. The Maintenance Planner will have two choices:
* do not create the order and call the manufacturing representative and coordinate the sdervice against the warranty.
* override the message and create the order.

Some jobs do not affect the warranty and the maintenance organization would execute them anyway, for example painting a pump according the plant color code, or performing the PM.

1. Set the Class active in the warranty category I in the img
CM01
2. Plant Maintenance and Customer Service --> Master Data in Plant Maintenance and Customer Service --> Warranties --> Define Warranty Types
Set the indicators for warranty in the notification and work order

3. Set the number range BG00 for Master Warranties

4. Create a Characteristic for the Warranty Counter T-Code CT04

Any Description
Numberic Format
Number of Characters "5"
Unit of Measure "Months"
No Exponent
Single Values

4. Use the Characteristic as a Warranty Counter T-code GM04 and make it the Default and time dependent

This will complete the warranty config

Eugene,

I too was aware of the functionality but never had the chance to implement this. Thank you for your insights on this matter.
