Do you include piping loops as per RBI study in SAP PM? If yes, do you use object link or just simply equipment master?
We prefer to use objek link even though it takes more times to construct but in the long run, it's the right thing to do. TQ |

Have anybody used object link and object network in SAP PM? Appreciate if anybody have this experience and willing to share? What are the advantages of using the object link for pipings rather than eqpt master? TQ

Hemant, I'm curious to know how do you represent structure, system and power plant in aircrafts in SAP PM? Do you use object link & object network for this purpose? Rdgs

I have used Networks before for both electrical and piping systems.
Let me know if you have any specific questions or issues and i will try to answer them. ATC. |

Let say I have pipings from eqpt A to eqpt B, then C to D, E to F etc.
Did you use object link to represent each of the pipings between the eqpt? Did you use object network to represent the whole piping loop which consists of pipings from A to B, C to D, E to F etc? Like to see your examples how to use networks for electrical systems as you mentioned above. |

Hello Josh,
Sorry for delayed reply... I was taking a long nap. power plants / engines are structured as Equipment hierarchy. Engine is an equipment because it gets installed and dismentalled from Aircraft. We normally create strucure that is based on ATA guidelines along with our current maintenance capabilities. SAP also has a new solution called configuration Control (transactions iPPE, IE4N ad CCM2). With this We crate a master parts list for Engine. Master parts list contain all technical details regarding which parts can be installed at a given location in Engine structure. When we replace a part, system checks all modification made on the engine as well as other parts that are linked to new part for theor technical compatibility. It also checks validity of parts for a given Aircraft configuration where the engine is insatlled. Connecting object like fuel system and pipe line is defined using object link. I am not too sure what people in other industry do wen they replace a part. Hope this explains atleast from Aircraft/ engine perspective, and may give you good feeling when next time you fly. Engines srtuctured as eqpt hierarchy is right. Is it possible to see the ATA guidelines? In oil & gas, the guideline is ISO14224. API689 is another but never seen.
Which version of SAP contains the configuration control? We use eqpt bill of materials. SAP also has material BOM which we never used. Is the master part list for the engine another type of BOM in SAP? SAP checking for technical compatibility for spare parts & modifications sounds good. This checking does not happen in SAP in my plant. Even modofications were not initally handled thru SAP until I insist project to do so. May be others have inputs into this. Btw, I read the NH's rcm report so that's why I tried to use the aircraft language. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Josh, |
