Hi All,
Easy question. My company currently do not use the transaction IW36 (we were advised by Logica that they cause more problems than they solve??) I have an idea where we could utilise IW36 however as i have no access to the transaction i am hoping for some clarity from here With the sub orders raised to superior PM order do the collective costs go to the superior order? and all individual costs go to the specific sub orders. Therefore if i wanted to know exactly how much in total i have spent i could look at the superior order which would add up all the costs of the sub orders underneath it. Have any other people used them here, are they of use or like logica would you suggest sequential PMO's? Many Thanks J |

Suborders can be used for corrective/preventive works found during execution of PM work orders.
Also suborders can be used to subdivide major works by disciplines (i.e. static, rotating, electrical, instrument) e.g. create a superior WO for overhual of rotating equipment with a suborder for respective disciplines. By doing so, we will capture the total cost of overhaul and subtotal for each suborder. However, the superior work order cannot be closed if each individual suborder is not closed first. This is a good feature because it acts as a reminder that all works must be completed before the final closure. This is not a problem! |

Thanks Josh,
If i am reading your post correctlty.... The superior will collect the cost of all sub orders beneath it - Therefore if wanted to know the combined cost of all sub orders i would look at the superior order? The fact the superior order cannot be closed until all other tasks have been helps me greatly Thanks |

Yes! January39
Cost in any sub-order will automaticly roll-up to superior order. You can look at superior order for the total cost and drill down to any sub-order to look the cost. For example: in superior order Goto menu: Extras -> Sub order -> Cost overview.....you will see that you need. Panuphan B. The transaction is open to me but i have been advised not to use it until i have prepared a business case for its use.
As said before 'logica' advised against there use and in turn i have to provide reasons why it should be used. Its frustating but slowly, slowly catch monkey. |

Pls ask Logica to specify the problems of using the suborder and publish them for us to discuss to help you.

I am writing as we speak, i challenged Logica and all they said was that 'The use of sub -orders creates more problems than it solves, we advise the use squential PM orders' i could not extract anymore than that from them.
Ill shall let you all know the outcome and then possibly with your assitance update my business case if they refuse. My honest thoughts are that my company are a little frightened about using them. It is a new element to us (not me) Unfounded concerns i think. @Josh - They are not keen for me to use IW36 within the QAS clients. First thing i asked. (frustating). Thanks All, your help is much appreciated. |
