I believe SAP keeps history using failure codes in the notification, not the work order. The notification can be attached to the work order.

You may concern about the failure code design becoz it's important for failure analysis such as RCFA or FMEA

Now! I doing review the existing failure code in SAP to relate about FMEA method.

My answer was yes above because we have a notification and a work order for any jobs in SAP PM. The item record is in the notification.

What standards do you refer to for your review? How do we ensure that the data collected are useful for RCFA & FMEA in view of the Resniskoff's argument ie a lot of data but not useful for vital actuarial analysis?

I know standard code refer to ISO 14224 but I think design failure code different depending on equipment, Normally I use from historical failure in the past

A design failure code
