Also if anyone knows of any good training resources for the PM module in general.

Are you talking about from the design of a green-field plant, from a maintenance perspective, operations perspective?

I suggest to:
* first: study the topic out of the CMMS, maybe with a good handbook on Maintenance Engineering or Maintenance Planning,
* second: after knowing what capacity planning is, verify your parameters configuration at SAP R/3

Capacity scheduling is available in SAP and made easy to use via a Graphical Scheduling tool from www.prometheusgroup.us

Configured correctly in SAP the capacity scheduling tool is already easy to use. The hard bit is getting the configuration right to start with.

What David says is true, it is an easy function to perform without spending extra dollars on add ons.
We had an HR module implemented to our SAP ECC6.0 and it had made the job even easier. All our capacities are automated via the org chart in the HR mdoule.

I think the most important thing to be able to dutilise capacity planning is setting the work centres correct. Also, you have to set up the hours for each of the work centers.
We had done it in our implementation and I may have the training material available with me.I will post it if this is readily available with me.By the time, please check how the set up of the workcenter in SAP-PM Moduleat your site
