There are links/interphases between Maximo and SAP R/3. Check:
http://www.osisoft.com/Products/RLINK/SAP+PM.htm

http://www.mro.com/corporate/pdf/SAPNetWeaver.pdf

There are a lot of CMMS which have interfaces to SAP R/3 (and even to SAP R/3-PM Smiler )
I did not hear anything which give me a feeling that mro/maximo was handed over from IBM to SAP.

The mentioned links describe an interface from OSI-Soft which is not related to maximo.
The second doc states that maximo is certified for SAP NetWeaver. There is no information about the linked modules in SAP R/3. Maybe MM, ...

Both docs to not give me a hint that maximo is now part of SAP.

Maximo is now part of IBM and was produced by the former MRO Software.

IBM is making it a part of the Tivoli software suite. I have not heard any news about SAP acquiring MRO/Maximo from IBM.

At one time it would have made sense for SAP to purchase MRO/Maximo but SAP EAM has made great strides and does not lack much in the way of functionality making the "best of breed" argument watered down.

Tivoli = IT Service Management?
It seems just like a orders management system for calls to the IT helpdesk.

You are correct Eugene - the early buzz was that IBM acquired MRO/Maximo to have a world class product for IT Asset Management.

They, by circumstance, found themselves with a 15% market share of the Maintenance Software market.

They are still closing new deals in the maintenance arena and we understand that some of those deals are significant.

We also hear that they will be announcing future direction in the maintenance (EAM) markets soon.

MaximoWorld is scheduled for July in Orlando.

Using Maximo to manage IT helpdesk calls for service? Seems to me like bringing a 18 wheels truck to move a single box of copier paper.
