I know this is a loaded question but who are the better companies offering training with ultrasonics? Why do these stand out from the rest?
Thanks, Aub |

Aubrey,
I would love to answer your question - but as someone who actually does ultrasound training for SDT, I feel somewhat restrained. Or is it constrained? Anyway, are you looking for a public course or a private one? The selection check list should include the topics which are specifically of interest to you - whether it is leaks, traps, valves, bearings or electrical. Also, how much hands-on is involved in the training. All of the trainers I know in this subject are highly competent with many decades of direct experience. So in that sense you can't go wrong. |

We are starting an ultrasonics program to complement our vibration and infrared programs already in place. I would like to decide where to send two techs for training when we decide who they are. We are interested in electrical as well as mechanical applications.

I am sure there are other schedules somewhere, I did a quick internet search and found
SDT:http://www.sdtnorthamerica.com/training/schedule.htm UE: http://uesystems.com/training_schedule.asp I know the trainer for the SDT Charlotte course in March. If you want me to say more it should be outside of this forum (tom@reliabilityteam.com) I hope this helps, Best Regards, Tom Murphy |

Aubrey,
This year I have sat in on an Associate & a Level I course in airborne ultrasonics, I have also researched alot of information on suppliers web sites and so on. The course's were run in Australia which is the first time to my knowledge. UE systems carried out the training using Mark Goodman as the trainer. I was in a similar position to you a year or so ago, unfortunetly I didn't get the final say as to what equipment we bought so we ended up with the CSI - Sonic Scan 7000. Even though we had already bought different gear Mark kept his training industry specific. One thing I would recommend is that you send someone from the plant who is responsible for the production(ie Maintenance Engineer/Planner) as well as your two technicians. This is a great opportunity for the person to see what this type of technology can help him or her with in the future. It will also give the Technicians someone to help bounce future ideas off. I would like to state that I am in no way affiliated with UE Systems or Mark Goodman. I hope this helps, Merry Christmas all Regards Hooch |

Thanks to both of you, Good idea Hooch, unfortunately I am trying to get him to a basic vibration class right now so he knows what we are talking about there.
