A customer would like us to get into ultrasonics for testing steam traps, we have no experience with either. Currently we use RBMware in our vibration program for the same guy. He has gone ahead and bought this equipment (emerson process -CSI) He wants us to do the work, What is involved in this side of the business. The customer also is willing to put up with us climbing the learning curve, and will likely allow us to factor in such cost in the bills for the service. He is a good customer, good people, and they believe in us so I do not want to let them down.
Any advice ? ALan |

Alan,
Since one of the MAJOR players in the field of ultrasound is based 30 minutes down the 401 from you in Coburg Ontario, I suggest that you contact SDT North America. They can provide you with the training you need. Best Regards, Tom Murphy |

Go to CSI and get your Training for the CSI Instrument if you need training on interfacing the instrument to the software. You would better serve your customer by attending their course and learning about their instrument.
I own a CSI 7000 instrument and I have written curriculem on the CSI instrument. Good customer, good people who believe in you deserve the best return-on-investment that you can bring them. I can show you how to use the instrument and the many applications such as steam traps, leak detection, bearings, valves and electrical inspections in a One or Two Day Workshop, but since I do not have vibration analyzer and RBM ware, I cannot train you how to interface the instrument and use it with their software and NOR can anyone else but CSI! But, if in fact you know the software, I can help you otherwise. GOOD LUCK! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Jim, |

Hi Alan,
I'm with SDT North America in Cobourg, ON. As Tom Murphy suggests, we are not far from Trenton (as you well know). While we don't support the CSI ultrasonic product, we do support training and educating all ultrasound users about ultrasound inspections. I would be happy to answer any questions you have about testing steam traps. You can reach me off line of the chat room at allan@sdtnorthamerica.com. |
