Hello,

I am trying to find a company in the Oil/Gas industry with which i can work for a few months to gain experience and to exchange knowledge as well. I would prefer a company that uses the SAP system.

Any one can help ?

Where are you? Which part of SAP you want to learn because it's a big software ie it contains Logistics, Accounting & HR?

What a potentially brilliant concept that this online community could, in part, facilitate!

I hope you get some positive responses!

thanks Josh for responding. I am not really after SAP. I am interested in exchanging Operation/Maintenance knowlege and experience in the Oil/Gas industry. I mentioned SAP because it would be even more beneficial to see how others utilize SAP. I am working for Saudi Aramco (Oil Company).

I guess you are an Operation/Maintenance Engineer rather than IT engineer. Maintenance & production planning modules are under the Logistics.

I think at least 3 oil majors use SAP in this region.

How others utilize SAP? A big question! For me the best way to fully utilize your cmms is to fully understand and implement maintenance management via cmms.

Your idea of job attachment is good but I'm not sure about the willingness to exchange information freely because the way to fully implement cmms or IT system in general can give a strategic competetiveness. Like benchmarking, many participate to give data but not how to do it.

I am a Maint Eng'r. The interest is on how other companies do their Operation/Maintenance business. Effectiveness / Efficiency... etc

Utilization of SAP is not my focus, but surely it would be helpful.

So, any suggestions?

Some of the major vendors are creating a link to CMMS such as SAP so that the work order request and all the maintenance instruction can be performed via SAP. The necessity is to creat a link between your C.M software and SAP.
