I think Mc Graw Hill has a "Pump Handbook" that could be useful.

I have a "Maintenance Engineering Handbook" 5th Edition by Lindley R. Higgins (Mc Graw Hill) which has chapters on Plain Bearings, Rolling Bearings, Air conditioning equipment, Ventilating Fans and Exhaust Systems, Lubrication, among many others.

I like most of the stuff by Heinz Bloch. In particular he has a 5-volume set on Practical MachineryManagement which provides good detailed info.

For a good general mechanical handbook, I like:
- Machinery's Handbook
- Shigley's Standard Handbook of Machine Design.

You may run across a series of books by Mobley. I personally don't like those. Seems like he uses a lot of words to describe very basic things.

I think Audel's Millwright book might be better for this. Not a lot of math but a lot of info on hands-on maintenance of rotating equipment.

If you are looking to build a library cheaply, I'd recommend looking at availability of used books. www.alibris.com www.ebay.com
