How to use a figure of Maintenance Cost budget alone?
If Company ABC reports 3 million and Comapny XYZ reports 5 million what do can get out from that?

Even if both companies are in the same industry the total maintenance cost is influenced by a number of variables including:
* Number of equipment units being maintained.
* Total square area
* Location
* Aging of plant equipment
to name just a few.

We are interested to know the percentages of the maintenance expenses in a company and the ratio of direct maintenance and profit loss due to the plant is not available to produce.
The cost in $ is not so important.

Hello Eugene,Y.Bot.

I am also keen to know how much are the cost to maintain a manufacturing plant.

Though it depends on the many factors, actual benefits are not just in measuring but finding how we can reduce it. If some one else is running a plant at a cost less than me I have something to learn and improve my plant. Don’t you think so?

Any one can share these figure like Total cost of maintenance as percentage of total cost of the plant. Cost of reactive maintenance to cost or preventive maintenance etc…

Prash, do you agree with me? got another one for the list?

For example mechanics labor rate; may depend on location.

We have collected the cost of maintenance for gas&oil, chemical (process plants) and aerospace industries. The information is given in percentages from total yearly income and is bearked down to damage cost, spares cost, manpower cost and so on.
Since it took us a lot of effort to collect such data we are willing to provide it only to companies which will contribute also some data. The name of the company will be excluded from the summaries.
Is any one interested to join?
