Hi,

Is it possible to detect casing distortion using vibration analysis. What will be the frequency indication in the spectrum?.If anyone has faced this, please share your observations.

Thanks in advance

Yes it is. Casing distortions may have different characteristics depending upon the type of deflection. Expect 1X, 2X, 3X & 1/2X depending on shape and amount of deflection. This phenomenon can alter resonance; again, how much and to what extent.

If you are suspecting something; do you have valid alignment data both hot and cold? Does your hot data extend to piping and foundations or skids? Records are important. From my experience in Saudi, I have typically found that records are usually kept - find them. They will help. OEM specs are often available at the local area of responsibility or at a main administrative location; i.e. Jubail, go to Ras Tanura.
