Could someone please explain to me if in CSI Machinery Health Management, under the Sensor/Signal Tab, when setting up a PeakVue measurement, if Analog or Digital should be put in the blank? Intergration Mode Override has Analog and digital for the options. Overall Mode Override has Analog, Digital, Digital RMS, etc. We have set them up with Digital and Digital RMS, but looking in the book it says to use Analog integration for PeakVue. Thanks for any help.

Since, as I understand it, peakvue is all done in acceleration, there is no integration performed (assuming you are using an accelerometer) So the integration mode override probably doesn't relly matter. It probably says to use analogue, because that is the default setting in the software.
The overall mode override should be set to digital RMS. In this mode, the overall value is calculated from the spectrum. If analogue is selected, the overall value is calculated out to the Fmax of the datacollector (about 40kHz, if you've got a 2120). For peakvue, given the mangling that happens to the incomong signal, this might not be much use. Hope this makes sense. |

JimB,
I have always used "none" and "none" and PeakVue has always worked just fine. I have used it in a 2120 defaulted to digital and another defaulted to analog. I have also used it in my 2130. David Eason |

IanS is correct on one thing, there is no integration performed so it doesn't matter what you select there. I disagree with the overall mode overide. I prefer digital true peak since I use the Pk waveform amplitudes to calculate severeness. This is really more usefull especially if you are taking readings on slower speed equipment say below 600 RPM.
By selecting "none" and "none", you are allowing the default settings in the analyzer to control this function which unless changed will be analog and digital RMS. Scott |
