Hello everyone. We have some large equipment stored near some high vibration areas in my plant. I'm currently in the process of implementing some PMs for periodic rotation and lubrication as well as proper storage guidelines.
Do you guys feel that wooden pallets are adequate vibration dampeners, or should my company invest in some anti vibration pads? Also where is a good source for anti vibration pads and will recycled conveyor belt work? Sorry for all the questions but we're in the process of improving our storage procedures and I fear we already have some damaged bearings due to improper storage |

We have a couple of areas where we use rubber isolation pads. They're pretty inexpensive, and durable. Cork also works.
There are people on this site who could tell you much more than me, but I do know that the isolating material should be specified by the frequency of the vibration you are trying to isolate the machine from. |

Thanks for the education, Stan. The more I dig around, the more I find I need to research. I'll need to find the weights of our larger equipment and have some vibration analysis taken before we can select the isolation pads.
