Equipment: 415 V, 1320 KVA, 50 Hz, 1500 RPM Diesel Generator
Vibration Readings at 1500 RPM on the generator stator frame.: NO LOAD, EXCITED (Pk to Pk Microns / Peak mm/sec) D E --------------------------------- ODE Horizontal - 48 / 10 – 11 ----------- 56 / 11 Vertical - 120 / 15 ---------------- 180 / 18 Axial - 260 / 26 ------------------- 280 / 25 900 AMPS LOAD (Pk to Pk Microns / Peak mm/sec) D E --------------------------------- ODE Horizontal - 80 / 15 ---------------- 72 / 12 Vertical - 220 / 21 ---------------- 180 / 17 Axial - 320 / 30 ------------------- 320 / 32 Are these vibration levels normal for a Diesel Engine Generator ? If they are high, what could be the causes ? Thanks. This message has been edited. Last edited by: edison123, |

The vertical and axial look high to me but I don't do much with diesel generators. Do you have any data we can look at? (Spectra or time-waveform.

Thanks Joe. Will post a spectrum as soon as I get it.

The velocity limit for DLW engines of nearly 3000 KVA at our plant is 49 mm/sec for engine and 24 mm/sec for generator. For Wartsila make DG sets of 2810 KVA(Earlier seen by me), the vibration limit set by manufacturer are 42 mm/sec for engine and 18 mm/sec for generator. Your's is a smaller engine but the readings seem to be normal for reciprocating engine. |
