This photo is a .jpg taken at 640x480, about 55kB in size. I just used the Add Attachment link and pointed to it on my PC. Much, much easier than the old boards.

Regards,

Rusty

This is .jpg taken at 1024x768 and is 235kB. Interestingly, this idler and belt are actually in service. Maybe it's just a quirk of my camera, but I find it works quite well as a "poor man's strobe light" plus it records the image!

Rusty

This is a 30kB .png file captured from Gates DesignFlex II with a screen capture utility.

I tried the album and I think it choked on the .png file. Then I uploaded 3 small .jpg files, and got the following screen.... 25kB limit??

Rusty

The board is set to a max 5 meg per photo and 30 meg per photo album.
Atachments per post should not exceed 5 meg (hey its the web - photos should not exceed 5 meg anyway).

I am not sure how the board handles png as that format is not one of the presets.

I will check.

Interesting photo of the coupling halves: appears the coupling hub on the right is on backwards. Would that have anything to do with the funny looking pics?

This is a wmf file.

How about that. It's transparent. Now why can't I add these to an album? Wish CSI had the option to save at different sizes.

Now what about attaching documents or pdfs?

That seems to work, too. Wonder if there's the same 5 MB limit like on pictures?

Well, off to work. Hope it gets out of the 30s today.

Well, slap me naked!! As many times as I've looked at those pictures, I never noticed that. It appears that one of the hubs is on backwards. The left hub (fan side) was changed out at some point with the wheel. The right hub (motor side) is original (we think). I thought I looked at the outer hubs, but maybe not. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Sam.

The inboard motor bearing had what looked like a "rub" -- turns out the motor was sitting 0.048" low with very little angularity. I thought that accounted for the wear on the right hub teeth. This is a large coupling on a baghouse fan.

As I said, the 3 files in the album I tried to post were only about 225kB in total size.

All,

This has been posted in the past but if there is a problem posting a proprietary or non-standard picture, get irfanview and use the plugins to convert the image. I have no connection with the developer, but have been using the program (freeware) for about 6 years now. The deveoper was a graphic arts student in Vienna when he came up with the program and it has only gotten better with each update. Enough soapbox, I think it is bloody brilliant that we can easily add graphics to our posts.

Rusty,

I believe CSI has an option to change plot file formats from .wmf to .jpg

CSI can output wmf, bmp, pcx, jpg, and png. But who uses bitmaps anymore and the jpegs are so big compared to the wmf and png.

I downloaded irfanview--looks pretty neat--even has a screen capture utility.

I tried the album thing again... the pictures uploaded fine, but it gave me the following error message. Notice it says there is a 30KB limit (that's 'kilo' not 'mega')..... oh well, it seems like a good idea.
