I have VM-600 vibration monitoring system on a siemens gas turbine 250 MWs, it analizes the vibration data and make the transient and normal operation diagrams, the reading of shaft vibration from X-Y proximitors are then sent to the operation and managment system monitor of the turbine but as one reading only.

So, is that single value generated from the rms value of the X or Y or it is a derived value optained from both signals X & Y

You have a system without a User Manual? How do you calibrate it? How do you know it is working correctly?

The calibration and maintenance of the system is not my responsibility, its on the I&C stuff I am just an Operator and i want to know the secret of the single reading only.

I am not directly familiar with the system. Here is a link to the user manual:

A single value representing two radial proximity probes could be higher of the two sesnors, sensor in alarm state, or vector sum of X & Y directions. If no one comes forward on the Board, then contact Vibrometer.
