I was sent a report that contained what looks to me like Emonitor spectra. Some of the plots are labeled Smart HP. I'm thinking this is indicating some sort of high pass filtering. Can anyone confirm exactly what I'm looking at?

Thanks

· Smart HP - (Stands for Smart High Pass) Typically this filter maps to a specific high pass filter in the data collector and is available for magnitude, spectrum, and time waveform measurements. In the dataPAC, it maps to the dataPAC filters shown in the table below, depending on the results of comparing the filter choice to the formula below.

EMONITOR Odyssey or Enshare uses the following formula:

EMONITOR Odyssey or Enshare chooses an overall filter with one of the low frequency cutoffs shown in the table below. It uses the filter whose cutoff is less than the result of the formula.

Integrated (A®V, A®D, V®D) Non-integrated (A, V, and D)
5.30 Hz (318 CPM)23.80 Hz (1428 CPM) 2.67 Hz (160.2 CPM)
For example:

In this example, EMONITOR Odyssey or Enshare uses the 5.30 Hz (318 CPM) filter for this measurement if it is an integrated measurement. It uses the 2.67 Hz (160.2 CPM) filter for a non-integrated measurement.

Thanks a lot for the quick response. With such low frequencies (2.67 or 5.30 Hz) is the purpose of these filters to help eliminate ski slope from integration error in the spectra? Can I assume the spectral peaks in the data I'm looking at are actual frequencies and not demodulated high frequency energy?

Joe,

If the labels are "smart HP", then yes, you are looking at actual frequencies and not spike energy (demod high freq).
