Dear Biron,

I have 2 different programs for 2-plane balancing.

One is from IRD - Old but functional program.
The other is from a Dr. Wook on Excel which also works well.

Let me have your e-mail and I will send you copies of both.

Go to www.balancemaster.com and look at EasyBalance Wizard. Written for XP and full of features and inexpensive.

Dear Earl,

The suggested 2 plane balancing software you are proposing looks fine but it is not that inexpensive.
$980,00 U.S. is a little steep when there are so many of us on this site who are willing to share what we have and at no cost.

However, thanks for the response.

Depending on the rotor size etc it may be possible to use a compromise method with a shared pair of balance masses, or a couple configuration.

This does not need software, and can be done with manual graphical plots. How it was used on a large double entry fan is explained in my first book "Machine condition monitoring". (Byron, old buddy, you boss Prof Colin has a copy of the first edition of the book).

The fan is constant speed, and the final balance mass configuration may well be the same as that obtained using the Thearle method, but that uses complex graphical plots or software and either way, you do not see where you are heading.

Others, email me next week and I will look out bsome notes on it to send.

Markoleo,

You can also visit http://dataphysics.com/products/applications/signalcalc/balancing/index.htm and take a look at the balancing software available.

To all,

I have had many requests for the IRD 2 plane balancing program as well as Dr.Wowk's Excel program.

Instead of answering each and everyone and risking omiting one request, they are included below in the next 3 posts since only one attachment can be included per post.

And the IRD program follows and requires 2 additional sub-routines to function.
Here is the main program.
