I wanted to start a discussion regarding the use of calculated points in Emonitor.

I've recently started using a calculated Crest Factor for my time-waveform data. The one draw back that I am having is that when I copy and paste a calculation, the "new" calculation references the time-waveform from the "old" calculation. I have to go in manually and change the calculation.

We are currently running Emonitor 3.2. My co-worker indicated that the cut/paste feature worked correctly with the older version (2.3) of the sofware. Rockewell wasn't much help, they told me that this is how it works.

We are contemplating using the calculation tool to derive some pump performance measurements like developed head, differential pressure, etc. Is anyone doing this?

Steve,

Regarding your cut and paste, that is how the thing works. Even when you cut and paste something simple like bearing freqs (same bearing on three or four machines), they will reference the first bearings speed reference, whatever that was. Frowner You have to go in and change the speed reference for all the other ones you pasted. I will have to disagree with your co-worker, it has been that way in all versions, and I have ran my mouth about it every version. It has done no good, but I complain anyway. I wanted to be like copy and paste formulas in excel, but it's not. Frowner

On the note of calculated points in Odyssey, I have been waiting for someone to find a use for them. Big Grin I've never ran across anything that would have paid back the time it took to set the point up, so I've never even fooled with it.
I will watch this post. Maybe I can learn something useful to use (crest factor sounds good to start with)Wink

Dave,

Thanks for the feedback. It's just tedious to change the calculations manually. I am also curious on what other calculations people may be using and if it's worth it (bang for the buck).
