Dear Specialists,

Need your help and support please

I am a graduate student studying vibration in rotating machinery. And I have been an assigment to model and simulate a high pressure compressor rotor using FEM in NASTRAN or XLRotor. To find the first 6 modes, plotting the first 5 mode shapes and some other requiremnts. would to have a guidlines or document in step by step in how to do this considering the type of bearings, bearing stiffnes and damping coeffiecnt, shrink fit modling, coupling hub modeling, balance piston, impeller modeling, number of shaft stations, and so forth.

Regards,

I guess the Xlrotor program itself has several examples along with their solutions. You may start by two things:

1. Model a known system to verify your steps and results.
2. Have an existing Xlrotor model modified to your particular case.

Xlrotor seams friendly but one needs time to be familiar with it. Also, make sure you have your work done within one month (from the installation) if you do not have the license. Otherwise, reinstalling the software requires formatting the computer.

Do you have the experimental solution for the compressor in order to compare your numerical solution with?

Ramadan Mubarak and good luck.
