I am lookng for some information regarding the Snapshot Portable data collector with System 1. I am setting up from scratch a walk around collection program for 3000 typical refinery machines and need input on the do's and dont's on setting up Snapshot. For example, Prime spike, collection time per point, Type of sensor, Direct Min/Max/Avg etc. Thanks

Erik, I am opening a can of worms now: Sell that collector on Ebay and get a real system for that many aggregates where the soft does most of your work. One example - just an example - is an old CSI 2120 and a non supported cheap MTWIN 3.50. You will stand a chance to cover those 3000 aggregates with average 12 points per machine and get spare time plenty to chase modifications on the red (bad) ones you find. I have gathered massive critisism on that Snapshot and I am afraid it is well founded, even got it from BN in-house people. I guess I cannot get visa to US entry anymore but someone must speak up. :-) It can be ok for a plant with up to 200 machines, but it is definetly not as mature as several of the other common systems.

Erik, sorry, I have one, decision to purchase came from above before my time, it sits in the corner, initially configured a few machines to compare with my ten year old 2***, no comparison, They really need to do some work with this to make it feasible, its very slow, collecting extra (off route) data is a pain, lacks trouble shooting features, also plotting program features are virtually nonexistent requiring more analysis time to boot.
Concur with Arne,

One thought is if you need to stay with system 1 software, change the data collector to their Snapshot IS model. It is made by Diagnostic Instruments - same box as used by Entek, SKF, DLI and others. Much better box then Bently's own version.

Arne, don't worry about the Visa because the Snapshot was developed in the UK and I'm sure they are sending over a hit man right now Big Grin.
Unfortunately I already have the analyzers and encountered the problems you guys mentioned with performance and setting-up. If anyone has gone through the pain of setting up snapshot with System 1 I would appreciate feedback, Thanks.
