What is the difference between a Dataline 1S and the Datapac 1500. Is there a fucntionality difference that makes one of them more suitable for slow speed analysis.

Or is the setup all in the software?

Thanks
Alan

Alan,

That is a Dataline IS (for intrinsically safe). Most people who have used both consider the Dataline a boat anchor. It was Entek's (before they bought IRD) entry machine into the data collector line. It is an OK machine for data collection, but its dynamic range is less than the DataPac. For slow speed apps, I would use the DataPac. HOwever, I have only used the dataline three or four times collecting regular route data (When datapac was in for calibration or other work). It is heavy and cumbersome for that work I thought. Just my opinion.

I used the dataline DSP exclusively for route based collection for about 5 years. My dataPAC 1500 was mainly for balancing, SU/CD and FRF stuff. About 3 years ago I started using the dataPAC for route based collection as well. Sold the dataline just recently. The main reason I stopped using it was because I couldn't stand the crappy power supply any more. 250 bucks for a battery that last about an hour if you're lucky......

I beleave the Dataline was made by DI. DLI used the same platform calling it a DCA20. The unit was okay but as mentioned before the battery is a constant problem. When I was using the Dataline we had about six batteries and three chargers to keep two collectors almost working...
