Does anyone have a source for IRD model 880/885/890 accelerameter cables. I just talked to Entek and they want my first born for a 12 foot cable.

Thanks

dj,
We've order cables for our CSI equipment from Wilcoxon. 1-800-WILCOXON I know that looks like too many numbers but it is right out of their book. Also 301-330-8811 or www.wilcoxon.com
Maybe they can help you with your IRD cables.

dj,

I will check to see if we may be able to provide your required cable from our inventory. However, I probably won't have an answer for you before sometime early next week as company personnel responsible for inventory control are currently out of town attending training.

Also I can assure you I don't want anymore kids and have all my body parts too so will not require arms or legs either. Our stuff is competitvely priced. Please contact me at: gmf4366@hotmail.com.

Best regards,

Gary Forsythe

Did anyone ever come up with a source for these cables (890/Fast Track/etc.)?

Thanks,

Try James Dramalya in Texas - Dreyco, Inc I think. He has a many 880's I think and deals in them/fixes/re-sells as far as I know. Sometimes on this board under items to sell.

The problem with sourcing these cables I believe is that the instrument end (9 pin?) was propriotory to IRD. Therefore someone like Dreyco, Balancing USA, or Gary Forsythe's company would be your best bet, since they deal in repair, sales and calibration of used equipment.I don't think CTC or Wilcoxon would have access to this connector.

Try the address below. They have been very helpful whenever I needed cables for any equipment. I have used them for IRD cables.

None of the IRD Mechanalysis numbers or addresses are valid anymore.

Have you tried eBay? - I've often seen old IRD stuff for sale there, sold some myself.

One user solved this problem by drilling a hole in the side of the case and installing a BNC connector for the accelerometer. A small bit of soldering and then use standard cables which would be far cheaper. This might be the best way to solve the problem for good!

I can't recommend e-bay. I have been looking for a couple of years for a cable for one of my fast tracks. Both connectors are available, the one on the fast track end is a military version of a din connector. Looking to sell both my units, and the one would fetch more if I had a cable for it.

If it is a round 9 pin connector why not try a MIDI music cable. They are fitted with a round 9 pin connector and a variety of connector at the other end ( I have one that I use with my musical keyboard and my computor ),

Perhaps, the impedance and resistance might be right for you.

That cable costs me the fabulous amount of $25 can.

And they are available at most music stores.

For $25 bucks... not much to loose !

The 890 has a BNC input, so you can use a much less expensive cable for it. Not sure about the 885 and 880. You can get standard BNC to 2-pin cables from IMI or any other cable supplier.
