Danny, this partnership thing is an area for don't ask don't tell.

As for Cliff's non-technical comment, he should speak for himself. I am capable of speaking, wisely or not, for myself.

Regards,
Bill

Yes, well 25 years ago I entered into an "ultimate partnership...based on...the collective desire to achieve OUR goals - a healthy well balanced child." In the states we call that the decision to have children, and it's what the parents do. Wink

Just wondering what is wrong with this thread!
I saw Thursday where there was "10 pages" of replies but now there is only "9 pages" on Friday. Also I count in excess of 180 replies have been posted but only 165 currently show. Smiler

Have some deleted theirs' or is there an error or bug in the thread causing this? Is "9 pages" the limit for any one thread? Smiler

Or has my computer malfunctioned? Smiler

Steve,

Having written at least 2 of them; yes, 9 pages is enough. Cool

Hey Danny, Paul Harvey could do it in 2 pages; so, you're falling right in line with the rest of the story.

Perhaps Way too many. Smiler

The point being made is, Smiler where did the other replies go? If no one deleted any they posted, then the web site must have, or so it seems. If some important data was "trashed" due to a limit in total replies to any one given thread, that might be sad for someone who would or could have gained something from the "lost" replies, if indeed there are any lost, which does seem to be the case here, what with my having in excess of 180 notifications related to this one thread.

Oh! Well! So be it.

Ralph,

On some other boards I frequent, when the threads get this long posts get eaten. The techies call it truncating. They just start a new thread and continue the discussion when this happens.

Hope this post survives to answer your question.

Thanks Michael.

Wonder why that is? Why not just let the replies keep adding up or start a new automatically?
A thread worth keeping its "salt" should keep all replies, seems like. Those that do not amount to "a hill of beans", ok, "truncate" them. Smiler Not saying this one is or is not either or neither, just wondering why the rule.

It must be peculiar to a specific board. I am a member of an antique tractor/dozer forum that has one thread with 587 pages, 5,861 replies, and has had 247,185 views.

I think what has happened is that people post emotional replies and then decide to remove them. Some removals have taken place recently and have been too random sequencing for it to be an organised truncation - more personal choice. My posts may have been crazy when in full context - after the removals they just look insane. Eeker(right Billy?) if there was organised removal based on value then there would be 31 - oh make that 32 with this one- less posts Big Grin
