Does anyone here use a pioneer PK1 pocket strobe?

Specifically, I'm looking for information regarding the output trigger jack. Do you know what kind of signal is output (TTL?) and what kind of jack/adaptor you need? The manual with the strobe has a good description of the external trigger jack but nothing on the output jack.

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,

I have a PK1 strobe. Mine (unfortunately) does not have the Output option. The Output option has a 1/8" connector just below the power charger connector (near lanyand cord). Do not confuse this with the right side connector that is intended for trigger Input.
Checkline now handles this product.

www.checkline.com/pioneer

www.checkline.com/stroboscopes/pk2.htm shows a 1/8" stereo connector (PK2-Phono) for the newer model PK2.

Thanks for the info Walt. Upon closer examination, our PK1 doesn't have the output option. I was looking at the battery charger connection.

I have a PK-1 and a PK-2 with the output option. As far as I can tell, the output is a TTL pulse that can be used as any other TTL tach is. I am not sure about the voltage levels. I plug the PK output directly into the tach input of my 2120 and it works fine, just like CSI's 444 strobes do. The jack is just a 'mono' phono plug, available at an Radio Shack... wire center pin positive, and ground is wired to the outer shell.

Whatever you do, DO NOT use any charger other than the one supplied with the PK strobes. They are very sensitive to the wrong input voltage.... use the wrong charger, and it's instant death. You'd think there'd be a user-replaceable fuse, but I can't find one. I have 3 that are dead right now.

Regards,

Rusty

PK1 was replaced a couple of years ago with the PK2. Link to PK2:

For a wide variety of strobes with TTL output:

Feel free to give a call if you have questions on any of the units.
