I have a fairly immediate need for a balancing stand. I have been putting off purchasing one, but now have a customer who is pushing me to do so. Do any of you have one gathering dust that you'd like to get rid of? I do not really need the electronics (except the drive unit) as I prefer to use my 2120 with FastBal.

If you could only have a single, all-around balancing stand, what would you get? I am most familiar with the IRD B-50 unit. Will a "soft" bearing machine work OK for doing long (8-10 ft) slender rolls? Any input would be appreciated.

Regards,

Rusty

Dreyco in or around Houston, TX (Pasadena I think).

There was also an outfit near Charlie Brown airport in Atlanta on Fulton Industrial Blvd I think but can't recall the name. But think they used to run ~$16,000 for small. Or build your own.

Rusty

I have a B50 (5000lb) Stand and a 230 control, That is surplus to our needs (we just upgraded to a Schenck H40/Cab 700). The 230 control is fine for symetrical objects (does not use trial weights), between the ways. if things got complicated we used our 2115sx fast bal 1 with the pick ups on the carriages.

The distance between the inside of the rollers is approximately 7', I am pretty sure with this type of suspension you could cut the base in half and weld an additional piece in between to increase the length, check with IRD first.

The control was last calibrated many years ago but was working fine up to July. The pick ups were good becasue we demo'd a IRD model 290T and it worked fine. We ultimately decided to purchase a new Schenck because our mechanics found working with Trial weights (when balancing overhung or non symetrical objects) added too many steps.

If you are interested send me an email or call 1-613-394-4851...I am sure we can come to an agreement (my chance to help you for a change!), I can also get decent cartage rates.

Regards
Alan
