I have used a micrometer cut/split and fitted with target and holder for eddy-probes to calibrate and verify function of eddy-probes and to get a distance/output curve. Those we have, we have made ourselves, have anyone seen a commercial version that you can buy? The real deal for vibration is the shaker version but this is for axial position. Olov

GE/Bently has a line of products for prox probe testing and calibration.

A more direct link http://www.ge-energy.com/prod_serv/products/oc/en/downloads/tk3_proximity.pdf will give you datasheet for the TK-3 which will handle your axial and radial (vibration) calibration needs.

Dave, seems your gadget is the closest, GE solution seems to be complete package with wobbler also. Since customer use SKF probes they may stop working in a Bently tester? Just kidding. Thank you for your help gentlemen, I know everything is there and existing, you just need to know where to look. Olov

Probably like John, I've gone through the Bently multi-day course on eddy current probes and their setup, check and calibration. You can use a RTA and plot or direct plot the voltage. The setup that David_G gave is good. A simple way of course is to move 'x' and measure 'y' and plot by hand.
Make sure your target is of the same material you are using in the machine. Cordially, Sam |

We supply Shinkawa cal fixtures. You can view them at www.sec-america.com. You can click on contacts and you might find a distributor for your area of the world.
