Its getting harder to buy a new computer with Win XP-Pro and not the MS Vista operating system. I could not find any online info at Emerson to indicate support of Vista. Has anyone got RBMware or the AMS Suite running with Vista? Is there any workaround like Virtual PC or dual boot with both XP-Pro and Vista?

Thanks,
Walt

Hey Walt,

I purchased a computer with Vista on it. It was a piece of work from day one. I contacted the manufacturer, Sony, to get XP for it. They told me there were drivers needed XP didn't have. Long story short. Took off Vista, found drivers, now no problems.

Back to your problem, my opinion, unless Vista is giving you something you have to have, just get a XP-Pro install. The little pain of dual booting (having to be around to make sure you are in the right system)is just not worth it. You never seem to be in the right system.

I am not sure if VM Ware or an equivalent would work with AMS Suite. But this goes back to my original statement, why go through the bother unless you have to. I have always gotten a speed loss when running a virtual machine.

I am sure that AMS Suite doesn't run on Linux though. Or maybe it does run under Wine. :-)

Thanks Aubrey,

I will probably get XP and put off the "upgrade" to Vista for another year. Anyone else taken the Vista plunge?

Vista's coming our way via a corporate rollout next week. I'll keep you up to date if I have time. I have tested it on a trial machine in our IT department and it did start up and I could access plots and whatnot. I won't know anymore than that until later.

Actually if you search CSI site, they reported that they have not tested MS Vista to recommend to use it with their software.

We've got the same problem with the upgrade. When i contacted the local rep, they have nothing to offer. BTW, same story is faced with Bently.

I cannot take the risk (specially i do not have a service contract with them), and i'd wait till things become clear.

We'll ADRE (display)on Vista soon. I'll keep you posted on this.

Well, I've got MHM up and running on Vista with what appears to be no problems.

I've also got ADRE installed and operating, but I can't connect my 208 to the laptop. I believe it's a driver issue. I've exhausted about all the time I want to on trying to figure it out. Luckily, I asked to keep my old laptop with XP installed so I can still collect data with the 208.
