I have a new database that we are starting up. It has quite a few small motors and single reduction worm gearboxes, direct connected fans and pumps, that are in the 1Hp to 5 hp range, many of the motors are rolled steel or aluminium shells. At what point is it more realistic to have just one good mounting pad, for the motor and one for the gearbox, for the smaller units all the radial points are within 6 or 7"or less, of each other.

As for the 3 to 10 hp sizes does anyone use, or manufacture a threaded in mount that can replace the fan cover hold down bolt.I would assume the replacment stud would bottom out, and a jam nut would tighten the fan cover against the raised boss on the endbell. This way it would be quick and easy to install pads without glue.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Alan
