Any of you guys have your own "blog" about vibration or related matters, or know of anyone who does?

Rusty

Nope. But if you did a blog, I would be very interested to read it. Are you volunteering?

Rustythevibeguy,
Does this mean I could use my old crawdad
handle with out offending you?

PS: You can run but you cant hide. You are
known by the great advice you give on this
board so keep it up by what ever name you choose.

Since I usually give my email address, I'm not hiding. I think I once said that we should post here under our 'real' names, but with identity theft becoming more of a concern, I'm not sure that's such a great idea.

I just like the 'rustythevibeguy' moniker (notice, it's all lowercase -- no capitals)... I think I am going to get a trademark on it. It has a more homespun sound to it... while I strive to be professional, I never pretend that I'm more than "just a guy with a vibration analyzer". Seems to work OK. My customers seem to like knowing who will answer the phone, schedule the job, do the work, write the report, handle the invoice, etc. As long as I don't get hit by a bus, I guess I'll be fine. Smiler

Rusty

Rusty,

I once had a sticker/label on my hard hat that said "Vibration Services" or something similar. I was at a nuclear power plant about 1-week before the razzing started. I am sure you can guess the direction the comments were going. Word-play can ocassionally get out of Hand (so to speak)!

Walt, when folks ask me what I do, I sometimes just say "I'm a vibration expert".... usually gets an "Oh!" and a raised eyebrow.

I used to say I was a "vibration analyst" which got mostly blank stares.... they have no idea what that is.

Now I say that "I'm a mechanical engineer and I do machinery diagnostics using vibration analysis." That gets about a half blank stare.... they connect with the 'engineer' part and probably just forget the rest.

One of the guys here on the board said his guys have stickers that say something like "If it's hot, oily, and vibrating... we're all over it." I like that, but I'm sure my wife wouldn't. Smiler

You could maybe try: I am a machine vet, also talking to the machines, finding out how they feel.
