Dear Friends!
I would like to know the effectiveness of the training CDs and interactive courses in learning practical vibration analysis.

Does anybody has experience with such prog? Please suggest.

There exists a number of levels for vibration training CDs:

1. Just a digitized version of old videotapes (such as instructor led course).
2. Enhanced version of the above with pictures, animations etc. Quizzes and pre/post tests may exist also.
3. Smarter presentation by allowing the user to interfere the contents (values, plots, animations) of the given examples to see the effects of his/her interference.
4. More practical way where the program allows the vibration data transfer to the user’s instruments to be studied in the actual software the user has in the plant.

All the above are from the format view point- from the quality side, most those I saw were not bad at all to begin with.

Regarding the effectiveness, I guess this heavily depends on the users and the environment but in general for beginners such tools are great time savers for experience and “ vibration beginner’s FAQ”.

That is MHO.

e-pete gives good advice i've used the mobius product and thought it was well worth the money

We have used Ilearnvibration to train our two last techs and found that it works really well.

I have taken Vibration Trainings (Level I & II) from Emerson Process Management.

It really helps and broadens your analysis techniques.
