Hi all

I am seeking advice/opinions on some data collectors and software currently on the market for use in a PdM Program. If anyone has experience using any of the following, please give me your opinion of the system.

1.CSI 2130 RBM Consultant with AMS Suite Machinery Health Analyser Software.
2.Commtest vb3000 with Ascent Software.
3.DLI Watchman DCA-50 and/or DCX Hammerhead with ExpertAlert Software.
4.Ludeca Vibxpert with Omnitrend Software.
5.Bently Nevada Snapshot with System 1 Software.
6.SKF Microlog with Software.

Thanks in advance.

C. Davis.

We are setting up a PdM program using the VB3000 and Ascent Software, it looks very promising, only we are still in the begin phase.
One question I have, how/where do I aquire multiple licenses of the Bearing Expert Software? We are setting up a Dedicated Interbase Server to host the Ascent database and have multi-user access.

The Knoxville, TN facility has direct employees of Commtest.

Hey cdavis, I recommend the VB3000 with Ascent software. Great warranty, no support charges, reliable, robust and user friendly all in a well priced package.
svanels - why don't you contact tech support at Commtest's website in regards to obtaining further licenses. The new Ascent software comes equiped with their own bearing database as well.

I already found the source of the "Bearing Expert", I am looking for a multi-user license. The frequency calculator is nice to have, but I am more interested in the bearing and oilseal interchange features.

svanels - I suspect it may require additional activation from the commtest key unless you get a totally separate license for TBE. For my company's diagnostic module add-on for Ascent, it requires a key from us plus a modification of the Ascent key by Commtest. No body trusts each other - we all want to get paid and being extremely careful is the only way we can insure that.

We have a registered copy from commtest, the problem is that it can only used on one particular computer. The CD is also very handy for non-vibration techs (mechanics, buyers, store people)

Speaking as a users that has experience with a few of the systems mentioned in your post ...

I have to vote for CommTest!
My VB has 3-1/2 years of daily operation, one minor problem (my fault) and excellent support.

My decision to purchase a VB was based on:
(1) cost to purchase
(2) cost to maintain
(3) ease of use
(4) high-end capabilities that I might need

For the record, I do not have any relationship with CommTest, other than being a satisfied user.
